Craving Cracker Barrel comfort without the road trip? In this video, Nicole tackles five of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes—recreating the cozy, down-home flavors right in your own kitchen. From tender chicken and dumplings to sweet Southern-style fried apples, these copycat recipes deliver serious country comfort.
She starts with Cracker Barrel’s signature Chicken and Dumplings, featuring rich, slow-simmered flavor and pillowy dumplings. Next up: crispy, golden Country Fried Steak with creamy peppered Sawmill Gravy. Then she takes on their ultra-creamy, cheesy Hashbrown Casserole—an all-time favorite side. Finally, she serves up a warm skillet of Fried Apples, spiced just right and perfect for dessert or brunch.

Very thankful for the copycat recipes, Nicole! Being from the South, comfort food is about all I know. But, we LOVE Cracker Barrel! We cannot drive by one without stopping for a treat. I would like to offer a variation for the hash brown casserole. Before baking mine, I add a cup and a half to two cups of crushed cornflakes followed by a half to one whole stick of melted butter on top. If you notice the cornflakes getting too dark too quickly just slide something over your casserole dish while it finishes its baking time. Oh my goodness! It’s my family’s fave! In fact, when you were contemplating the crust on the minute steak, my first thought was crushed cornflakes! But then you figured out it was cracker crumbs. Thanks again!
Im sort of salty at Nicole
My grandmother always made those exact fried apples fir breakfast when we visited (sometimes she baked them).
The kitchen smelled so good, and the apples tasted so great.
I watched this video 10/29/2025. By the end of the day i bought 5 lbs of apples, and have made them twice. Tomorrow its country fried steak
I make a biscuit dough but I don't use any shortening, oil or butter in the dough. There is enough oil from the chicken on top of the water to help the dumplings puff up.I roll the dough as thin as a 1/16 th of an inch. I cut the dough with a pizza slicer and I use all of the dough. People don't care about the shape of the dumplings as long as they taste good and there's enough to fill them up. I make a recipe similar to my paternal grandma's. I have made them for parties many times and there aren't any leftovers. If I want a second helping, I have to dip some out before I leave home with the pot
Chicken and Dumplings is too watery 😭💔
No you didn't "nail"it😭💔

Their meatloaf is the very best. I'd love to see you make that.

Just started watching you a couple weeks ago. Love all your recipes you have made. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm going to use some of them for thanksgiving.
