Agree with your thoughts Gary: The food is pretty decent.
However, be wary of customer service:
We visited (for only the 2nd time) at the weekend with two young kids.
Waited 45 mins on our order. Several items incorrect. Salad for one kid was a simply cup of lettuce.
Contacted customer service with photos of receipt and lettuce.
They’ve bluntly said they can’t investigate further because I can’t provide a photo of the entire meal. No resolution offered.
Needless to say; we won’t be visiting Popeyes again… wasn’t looking for a payout – just wanted them to promise service improvements. Disappointing!
I still love KFC.

Tried Popeyes a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. I had one of their chicken burgers and it was pretty satisfying but not amazing. I wouldn't get a chicken burger usually but popeyes might be the exception. Interestingly their normal chicken wasn't that good

Some British Youtube folks who have been to chicken places in the US have commented that the pieces are bigger there. Just comparing visually, your pieces were on the small side. Done right, Popeyes has the best fried chicken of any fast food chain, at least in America. YMMV depending on the store. Lack of consistency is the bane of Popeyes.
I was there for the first time the other day, deep fried bread crumbs with some average chicken inside, nothing special, the chips were a bit better than non seasoned fries but for £3 not worth it, I wouldnt have given it more than 5/10
