I’ve decided to head to Sunderland today to try out Propa 1 which is a run by Si King, one of the famous Hairy Bikers, I’ve been excited to try this one for a while looking at the online reviews!

  1. no disrespect to the Hairy Bikers R.I.P if one of them died i did watch some episodes and like their rustic take on life, but i just cannot go with pies in that format and i mean the packaging cardboard and soggyness you have to go down on it and can't use your hands, i love to go in sideways with two hands on a pie that is how it's always been since i was a child. i cringe when i see American pot pies with no sides it's more like a casserole and this seems the same thing, i get it it the inedible sides/packaging holds the gravy in but going down like a stuka bomber on a pie with a fork is just not it, it's just not it for a pie pies are for hands.

  2. Thanking the chef is something I always do, a quick "thanks for your work, I appreciate what you've done" is always received well and its good manners. It goes back to my days in the Army on exercise, I always thanked the chef and the next time he served me I always got a larger portion 😉

  3. Ridiculous dog owners. This is why dogs are restricted so much. Only take out your dog if it behaves in all environments, and this coming from someone who wants to see dogs allowed everywhere! I have three dogs. I’d only comfortably take one of them to any kind of restaurant because the other two would disturb others. Having said that, of course I’m less disturbed by misbehaving dogs than misbehaving children. But those dog owners should have been asked to move on.

  4. People from Sunderland, Gateshead and Newcastle love gravy. As you know I'm a Gateshead lass, now living in North Aberdeenshire, and I love my gravy. Hubby says my food floats in Gravy. Off course it does. When I go to Dyce Farm beside Aberdeen Airport, I have problems keeping the gravy on my plate. I had a buffet at Valley Farm in Gateshead 3 weeks ago, and no one looked twice at the gravy running nigh on off my plate.
