In this ultimate Dominican food tour in the Dominican Republic, we’re driving from Santo Domingo to Monte Cristi in the very north, to search for local Dominican food – welcome to the ultimate Dominican food road trip!
Check out Moises: https://www.instagram.com/moisesviaja/ Huge thank you for Moises for taking me on this Dominican street food tour.
Plaza Jacaranda, Bonao, Dominican Republic (https://maps.app.goo.gl/dZZbeTBDGtUwbvm77) – We’re starting with a classic breakfast of Mangú – mashed plantains, along with cheese and sausage, a proven combination and something many people eat for breakfast.
Arepa Don Luis (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ETriCqCdmdee3qP2A) – In the DR, an arepa is something totally different than in other countries – it’s a corn cake, that’s slightly sweet. And Mr. Don Luis is a legend, he’s a human calculation who knows exactly what weight he’s cutting off at a time and guesses it perfectly.
Las 4F Restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HDNpbkT5PdbGXjNZ7 ) – Next up we’re continuing to the town of Moca which is famous in the Dominican Republic for a dish called mofongo, a mashed plantain dish including crispy pork chicharon and orange juice, and lots of cheese. It was amazing.
Lechonera Hermanos Ramos (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ngotdn5Y9QojbRHx5) – We continued to the mountains to a place called Mamey, Dominican Republic, in search of lechon, roasted pig. And this place is amazing. I especially loved their bitter orange pepper sauce.
Parada La Madona (https://maps.app.goo.gl/r8NBBzUyn8q88AZq9) – In the very north of the DR is Hato del Medio Arriba, famous for serving goat, and the goat here was fresh and tasty.
Monte Cristi – And after a long day of driving and eating we made it to Monte Cristi on the very northern coast of the Dominican Republic. This was an incredible day of really local Dominican food, and off the beaten path!

Got to have your own plate in my presence unless I’m sharing a plate with a woman 😂😂. This a first time hearing an American say they like plátanos cuz just about every American friend of mines never liked it for some reason. But this is a great breakfast
