“Let’s compare the boat scene from It—1990 vs. 2017, scene by scene.”
“First, in the 1990 version, Tim Curry’s Pennywise greets Georgie with a calm, eerie smile, keeping the tension low but unsettling.”
“Now, in the 2017 version, Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise greets Georgie with a creepy, childlike voice, but the horror feels more immediate.”
“In 1990, the balloon floats up, and the scene maintains a subtle dread with its slower pacing.”
“By contrast, the 2017 version ramps up the suspense, with sharper visuals and a darker tone.”
“Finally, when Pennywise attacks, the 1990 version keeps the horror off-screen, leaving much to the imagination.”
“In 2017, the attack is far more graphic and intense, showing Pennywise’s terrifying power up close.”
“Both versions have their strengths. Which do you think nailed the horror better—1990 or 2017?”

Tim curry pennywise looks more friendly and bill skarsgard look more menacing
I haven’t seen this discussed… Can anyone else think of a mainstream horror movie where we see a kid attacked so vividly? I think that’s what shocked me the most in the theater. Tons of horror movies and action movies where we see adults losing arms and stuff… also plenty of movies with the kid is killed off or injured but it’s implied. This is the first mainstream film I can think of where they combined the two. Plus, it’s really common that really young kids in horror movies aren’t told they’re in a horror movie… to make sure not to scare them. But in the 2017 version, the kid playing Georgie would HAVE TO be briefed on the scene or else he wouldn’t sell it so well.
The 2017 version was creepier
Its a shame Tim Curry didnt have an actual unrated movie like the 2017, he captured exactly what pennywise was supposed to be from his mannerisms, to the voice.
I like the newer one better ima be honest
In the 1990 movie It, Georgie looked a lot like a spoiled child, but in the 2017 movie It, Georgie looked like a downtrodden, innocent person. So, in 1990, he definitely deserved to die! 😅
I'm abtvto barf after seeing a fucking child with no arm I threw my phone away In terror
Uh
Yes
I like how TC seems like an evil psychopath. With his friendly banter and direct glance when he bites. I like how BS is like a ravenous beast. With his hungry gaze and unsettling, seemingly hungry, voice, as well as his split eyed look as he bites. Both are great for different reasons.
