Mr Seth Godin, thank you so much for all the deep insights that you've shared that you've gathered over the years. People aren't respectful enough with what you've shared.
Point number one:
Ask yourself, in what era did Seth become a “godfather” of marketing?
Then ask yourself, can you duplicate that now?
We are in the era of short attention span Theatre.
Go ahead, produce, and publish a small library worth of books… Find out what percentage of the population still reads.
Point number two:
In the first 5 1/2 minutes when Seth is asked where marketing “went wrong” he replies, the Flintstones.
Anyone with even a remote inkling of critical thinking skills has their BS meter go off at this answer.
Before television advertisements, indeed, before television even existed there was radio.
Before radio advertisements, indeed, before the radio even exist existed, there was the written word.
And before the written word, there were orators.
How about missionaries?
Long before the Flintstones, there was the Bible, the Torah, the Quran and the original pre-whitewashed version of the Talmud.
What level of obtuse do you have to be to think the missionaries spreading their messages weren’t being paid/compensated to do so?
So not only does Seth choose a random point in time to indicate when marketing went “south”, he also comes from an era of marketing that is considered passé.
Go ahead, start writing books, see if anyone reads them and from there you’re perceived the expert in your field… In 2026!
(I can assure you, this is not the advice you’ll receive for the likes of Alex Hermozi, Gary V., etc.)
33:48 Specific Audience
31:35 Agency For Someone Not Everyone
37:08 Practical Empathy
Appreciate the effort put into this.
Gracias por subir la entrevista en audio en español.
Amazing attention to detail.
Your guest is very corky, we need a little humility. Get to the point, please…next.
Great video man, very insightful!
Cheez, I just love this guy. I’ve been getting his one-sentence newsletter every Monday for the last ten years at this point, it’s basically my emotional support email. At this point, he’s the only man who’s never ghosted me. 🤣
I wish I would have accepted that I should copy someone else sooner.
