LOL, seems to me a lot of those questions just didn't matter when you where working 12 hour plus days to survive.
How did they entertain themselves? Drinking beer and telling bullshit stories was as popular then as it is now.
I thought second sleep was partly to keep the fire going, especially during long cold winter nights

There weren't Ethiopians walking around everywhere in the medieval period. England wasn't diverse fifty years ago let alone in the middle ages.
