Happy dividend distribution day for all Realty Income (O) shareholders who celebrate! I own this REIT (real estate investment trust) in my personal dividend stock portfolio. With a 5.55% starting dividend distribution yield and a 5-year dividend CAGR of 2.9%, I look at this as a more conservative investment in my portfolio, a bond-like proxy. I started buying O in 2013 in the $42 range. I’m not adding at the current level, but I absolutely love the monthly dividend, as someone who uses dividends to help pay his bills. Having monthly income really helps with budgeting. Moreover, I work in the real estate industry, and have experienced that it is very hands-on.
