Happy dividend distribution day for all Realty Income (O) shareholders who celebrate! I own this REIT (real estate investment trust) in my personal dividend stock portfolio. With a 5.55% starting dividend distribution yield and a 5-year dividend CAGR of 2.9%, I look at this as a more conservative investment in my portfolio, a bond-like proxy. I started buying O in 2013 in the $42 range. I’m not adding at the current level, but I absolutely love the monthly dividend, as someone who uses dividends to help pay his bills. Having monthly income really helps with budgeting. Moreover, I work in the real estate industry, and have experienced that it is very hands-on. I like REITs for exposure to real estate without the hassle of property management. (Disclosure: I’m long Realty Income, ticker $O. Yep, basically an inflation adjusted bond with no maturity. I've had my eyes more on NNN and WPC(and ADC if it were to be cheaper )the past few years (without many purchases), and have picked up a little CPT (different category, but still a REIT). I still trust it enough to hold, but it's hard (for me) to imagine significant growth from O for me anytime soon.
💰😁nice
Yes celebrating along with you. I love my 700 shares and also have been selling 3 cash secured puts at $57.50 the past several months. I want to get to 1,000 shares and getting paid while i wait.
Word!
I recently liquidated my position in O, it was good to me for years but I don’t see it becoming more valuable from this point.
O is the number one REIT in my real estate portfolio. It’s strong and steady and never lets me down!
Sold my o last year. Much better dividend out there!!
I reached $470k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and insights you've shared with me over the past few months. I have been single for 12years i live in Florida, i bought a new Car in September and i hope to retire next year at 55 if all goes well, i am currently 54. Financial education is essential for over 70% of the population, as only a few are truly literate in this area. Thanks so much Ann Elizabeth Messer for helping achieve all this
I’m beginning to rotate out of my growth stocks into dividends (53 years old). O is definitely on my list. Thanks for sharing
Been accumulating O periodically for years. It’s not fully valued, not overvalued, although reasonably valued seems appropriate these days.
