After living in Japan for 12 years, I can think of no better place than Asia to help someone learn how to 'flex' their organizational muscles. In my case, I lived in apartments as small as 22 and 23 m2 (for those unfamiliar, that's less than 250 ft2). I mean, if you can keep an organized home there, you can pretty much do it anywhere… ha ha ha. That said, the one great thing about living in such places is that there are many, MANY clever space-saving features built into homes (e.g., under the floor storage in a kitchen that you lift up). Fortunately, the principles can be applied universally (though adapted to the context). The challenge I have found returning to the US some 23+ years after last living here is that … having so much space just encourages keeping things and cheap items (it really is much cheaper to buy things here compared to, e.g., Sweden where I also live) encourage acquisition. I remember when my mother said she didn't have space for something. One woman living in a 3-storey house … with a 3-car garage and a 5-car garage … with a full apartment over the 3-car garage. I cannot fathom how ONE PERSON could ever need that much space (but you do if you have boxes you haven't gone through since the 1980s ….). Enjoying the videos very much! As I listen and type simultaneously, having lived in several parts of the world (Asia, Europe, the GCC, the Americas … many due to teaching English!), your videos really resonate with me. That cleaning and organizing speak to me so much … well, that's just a personal problem 😉 ha ha ha Take care, all!

My Dear Husband just retired and thanks to April (and Jackson) @SpaceMakerMethod I'm able to kindly guide the declutter projects that include his things! I wait for the right time, ask lots of questions and leave the results alone. He always declutters more than I'd hoped and I'm so grateful for all that I've learned from your videos April!
