I actually do appreciate that Nara shows a wide variety of foods. She isn’t afraid of sugar, flour, or butter — and she also shares nourishing meals she eats for her own health. In theory, that aligns with what I believe: all foods can fit, and we don’t need to label things as “good” or “bad.”

But the tension comes in the packaging. The flawless makeup, the luxury lifestyle, the body type that happens to fit society’s beauty standard — all of that creates an image that feels unattainable for most women. And when millions of young women are watching, the message stops being just about food. It becomes about beauty, perfection, and a standard no one can realistically live up to.

That’s why I find this genre of content complicated. I support the idea of balance, but I also believe we need to talk honestly about the influence and responsibility that come with presenting it in this way.

  1. No but seriously, salt can turn anything into a snack. Salt and pepper on a tomato, salt and pepper on cucumbers, and it doesn't sound too farfetched to me that salt and pepper on a plain lettuce leaf would be a satisfying crunchy snack. It's not to stop hunger but to stop the craving to eat something. Can add paprika, tiny bit of garlic or onion powder, cayenne (if you like it spicy) to the mix if salt and peppy sounds too plain.
