I always make my own meatballs so they're gluten free. Breadcrumbs actually aren't necessary, though do soften meatballs, but the soft cheese like Boursin or you could use mascarpone or cream cheese, will also soften them and act as a binder along with eggs. Looks like a great recipe for a BBQ flavor profile. I often make a a variety that works well with cream based sauces, with ground beef, ground ham, grated onions, eggs, parmesan and grated nutmeg and allspice.
