  1. Literally went on holiday there, walked around that place and knew instantly it was a castle. Especially since it’s well known that England tore down a-lot of its castles. The Normans slighted rebel castles. After they won the war, they made sure the rebels didn’t have strong holds. So they went around tearing down castles that they deemed to be from a rebel family or faction. So plenty were still up. They didn’t just bring castles down. They made new ones. They were needed to secure their power. They just fought a tough war. Then after the English civil war, the English slighted many castles as well. They were tired of the civil wore and decided that rebels will have no place to call headquarters. So they slighted all the castles they felt no need for. Simply went walking around and said “two, that’s castle looks like prime real estate for rebels, take it down”. Then they thought, we have enough castles, let’s not build new ones so there can’t be a second rebellion with forts available to them. Just like Tony stark, the English learn from their mistakes. I also made up being there.
