Manusmriti
The ancient legal text Manusmriti explicitly bans the consumption of pork from domesticated pigs for the twice-born (Dwija) castes, who are expected to follow stricter dietary rules.
Verse 5.19 states: "A twice-born man who knowingly eats mushrooms, a village-pig, garlic, a village-cock, onions, or leeks, will become an outcast".
The Vishnu Smriti reinforces the prohibition by prescribing severe punishment for those involved in the sale of pork.
Chapter 5, Verse 49 states that a person who sells forbidden meat, including pork, should have their hands and limbs chopped off.
