I also learned, Millard Fillmore was also often called "Captain Slow" because he could not speed as he was a gentleman.

Franklin Pierce's personal life was utterly brutal. All three of his children died young, including his oldest, an 11 year old who died in a train accident the WEEK before his inauguration. His wife Jane suffered from TB and unsurprisingly, depression. Also unsurprisingly, he was an alcoholic. His presidency was amidst the mounting tensions that led to the Civil War. He admittedly made a lot of decisions I don't agree with, but damn if I can't give him a little slack. Life did not do him any favors.
