The Paramara Dynasty, also known as the rulers of Malwa (Central India), were among the most illustrious Rajput dynasties of medieval India.
Their capital was Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), and their reign lasted from the 9th to 14th century CE.

👑 Major Rulers:

1. Upendra (c. 800–818 CE)

Founder of the Paramara dynasty.

Originally a feudatory under the Rashtrakutas.

2. Siyaka II (948–972 CE)

Defeated the Rashtrakutas and made the Paramaras independent.

Shifted capital to Dharanagar (Dhar).

3. Vakpati Munja (972–990 CE)

A brave warrior and poet-king.

Expanded his territory but was captured and killed by the Chalukyas.

4. Bhoja (1010–1055 CE)

The greatest king of the dynasty.

Scholar of astronomy, medicine, art, and architecture.

Built Bhojeshwar Temple and founded Bhojpur.

His court was a center of learning — known as the “Oxford of Medieval India.”

5. Naravarman (1094–1130 CE)

Faced continuous attacks from Chalukyas and Kalachuris.

Could not maintain the empire’s glory.

6. Yashovarman (1130–1145 CE)

Attempted to revive the empire, but internal instability continued.

7. Mahalakadeva (1255–1305 CE)

Last significant ruler of the Paramaras.

Killed during Alauddin Khilji’s invasion of Malwa (1305 CE).

His death marked the end of the Paramara dynasty.

Great patrons of literature, architecture, and education.

King Bhoja’s Saraswati Kanthabharana and Samarangana Sutradhara remain timeless works.

The Bhojeshwar Temple and Dhar Fort stand as silent witnesses of their glory.
