Best part of this conversation was the renting and investing conversation….. exactly my case. Been renting for 10 years after owning 3 homes in 10 years before that. It’s nice but most do not factor in the stress, freedom and enjoying your money part of renting. It has enabled me to live a life and enjoy some of my money if I choose to. No unexpected expenses, long term plan is easy and seeing the growth is amazing. Housing, especially in Canada and Ontario where I am is such an obsession for so many. The bubble has clearly popped as we can all see and the next few years a lot will realize the losses. I think many will have this thinking soon when they look back at the years of ownership, money in and out, energy, stress etc. great video!

I have been watching a lot of your videos for a while and only recently subscribed. I appreciate your investing journey. I have not dipped my toes in covered call ETFs just yet. I’ve been more of a dividend growth and income investor. It’s been a journey and I have made some changes throughout the years. I realized that I could not keep up with the financial reports of over 20 companies- I owned over 30. So I trimmed the small percentage holdings and added dividend ETFs. Then I took a look at my yearly contribution room and percentage allocations within my portfolio. I realized I had biases towards certain stocks and I had limited room to build out the mid positions. So I reallocated more of those positions to broad based ETFs. Because I realized my dividend focus had me underweight in technology. So now I have both growth and income. As I get closer to retirement I will add some covered call ETFs to smooth out the cash flows.

I dont know if I agree about the real estate piece. Personally turned 31k down payment into 270k after 3 years. I understand its all market timing, but no S&P would've yielded nearly as much

Your guest said a number of smart and articulate things about himself. Foremost, he admitted he had to go through the "fast moving shiny object phase" to get to a vision for what will work for him in the longer term. Moving through this phase is very difficult for most people. Well done on anyone who can do it EARLY in their journey.
