Grew up watching the Andy Williams Christmas specials. Saw the Osmends for the first time there. Donny was about 6 years old then.

Definitely not a one hit wonder. Beautiful effortless voice. One of the crooners of the 50s when singing was such an art and talent seemed to be everywhere.

It's about a longing to travel. A young man longing to see the world. A common mindset when the boomers outgrew the small towns they grew up in. The river reminds him that there is another world out there.
This was one of my Daddy's favorite songs!
