  1. the national anthem – Perfect Country Song ~~~ sung in every country bar/dive/dance hall/lounge!!! Everyone stands for the last verse & sings at the top of their lung!! This ranks right next to Hank Jr "Family Tradition!!!! He is one of the original Outlaw singer/songwriters!!!! The reason behind all the name calling is that when he did those covers, he could sound just like them – they just didn't know how to place him!!!

  2. This song was actually written by Steve Goodman, who wrote another song that became a hit as a cover: “City of New Orleans” (cover by Arlo Guthrie).

Goodman wasn’t much to look at, but he was a great songwriter, and his wry sense of humor is obviously a big part. One song I remember from him is “The Chicken Cordon Blues,” where a man laments that his girlfriend used to make him all sorts of great dinners, but now it’s all health food. One of the great lines is, “This stuff is so strange, the cockroaches moved next door.”
