Jody like a melody OR please come to Boston!! Gotta do those
the national anthem – Perfect Country Song ~~~ sung in every country bar/dive/dance hall/lounge!!! Everyone stands for the last verse & sings at the top of their lung!! This ranks right next to Hank Jr "Family Tradition!!!! He is one of the original Outlaw singer/songwriters!!!! The reason behind all the name calling is that when he did those covers, he could sound just like them – they just didn't know how to place him!!!
Seeing DAC live in Athens, Ga while in college was the best – Love the Georgia Theater!!
Steve and John wrote this gem.
"The greatest Country music song ever written"
Would love to see you react to "The Scatman" By Scatman John
George Straight "The Chair"
Ronnie Milsap "Stranger in my house"
The song would be nothing without the 3rd verse. I still don't know what the 1st 2/3rds of the song mean and I've heard it since I was a toddler 😂
Charlie Pride never got the recognition he deserved, the inducted him into the County Music Hall of fame until he was very old, I loved his music
This song was actually written by Steve Goodman, who wrote another song that became a hit as a cover: “City of New Orleans” (cover by Arlo Guthrie).
Goodman wasn’t much to look at, but he was a great songwriter, and his wry sense of humor is obviously a big part. One song I remember from him is “The Chicken Cordon Blues,” where a man laments that his girlfriend used to make him all sorts of great dinners, but now it’s all health food. One of the great lines is, “This stuff is so strange, the cockroaches moved next door.”
His prison shit is best left in the big house.
