How many of the people know that Jim Morrison wrote poetry and had some published. If you really want to know about the Doors and Jim Morrison, watch the documentary about them. You will be surprised I think. 🤔 Radio stations actually stopped playing this song because of the lyrics way back when it was released. Some say that there were subliminal messages in the song that made people want to kill their parents. At the time this was released during the Vietnam War there was a lot of drug use by bands and Jim was a huge drug addict. Watch the documentary.
I think you hit on it… the interpretation of the song is up to the listener. For me, it is a stream of consciousness dreamscape moving from image to image, scene to scene, story to story… watching and listening to it flow…

Very accurate review.
poetry…
The Blue Bus is what the kids that were getting drafted called the military buses that came to round up the draft card people. Jim hated the war, I think most of this song is about a soldier that gets drafted and loses himself in training to KILL KILL KILL. The Doors had a lot of songs about the war, but not "Give peace a Chance" type. More about the soldier's perspective. Five To One, Unknown Soldier, An American Prayer is off the top of my head. Most of the time, The Doors wrote songs around Jim's poetry, not the other way around. Jim was the son of an Admiral who lead the navy during the Bay of Pigs. When he was in High School, he secured access to the Congressional Library with his Dad's connections. He was an avid reader, with shelves and shelves full of books. You could pull out any of his collection and flip to any page, and he could tell you what was written there word for word. His IQ tested higher than Einstein's. When he got access to the Congressional Library, he started studying crowd mind control. You can see him do this in the beginning of his career. He was a kid though, he didn't think of the other side of that, and he got bored with it pretty quickly, at least by Waiting For the Sun. What he didn't count on is human beings tend to be parasocial. I think this really bothered him, he wanted free thought, he was trying to free them from the systematic mind control we're subjected to daily, instead they just switched that Master for him. He hints around at these thoughts through a few interviews and his PBS special for Soft Parade. There's a book called No One Here Gets Out Alive that goes through all this information about his formative years. It's an interesting study of a human being, whether you're a Doors fan or not.
As a survivor of the scene, this was a song every hippy told each other not to listen to tripping. We all did pretty much. It was intense.
