The Battle of Okinawa was the last great battle of World War 2. It was a brutal 82-day slugfest in which the US Army and Marines fought a desperate Japanese force that was willing to die rather than surrender. The fighting was so fierce that it convinced the US high command that an invasion of mainland Japan would be too costly, ultimately leading to the decision to use the atomic bomb. This film uses rare archival footage and expert analysis to tell the story of the battle that changed the course of history.
