What appears to be a curious trick – placing an AirPods case near a Chromebook and watching the screen turn off – is in fact a straightforward application of the Hall effect. Modern laptops employ Hall effect sensors near the hinge to detect whether the lid is open or closed. A constant current flows through the sensor, and when a nearby magnet is introduced, its magnetic field deflects the moving charge carriers. This deflection generates a measurable voltage, which the laptop interprets as the lid being closed. In this case, the magnet embedded in the AirPods case mimics the lid magnet, causing the Chromebook to enter sleep mode.

😂 Breaking bad is so good
I got it 😅😂
that push should go left, not righ as part of the right hand rule
ahh, yes. I did this in middle school w/ chromebooks, and I was freaked out, but then figured that it would sign us out, and you can imagine how that turned out with my firends
I dont think Jesse was going to say "physics"…
RIP for the HDD
Breaking bad mentioned✅✅✅
Like guaranteed✅✅✅
I did it to My Friend a Couple years ago With My Jlab Jbuds air.
YEAH SCIENCE🙌🏻
Oh.. that why my metal stuff stick to the bezel of my laptop for no reason
