Though I think the demands were quite hypocritical and unfair towards Britain in their geopolitical inability to meet their demands, and in fact American lives worsened after Independence until ~1830/40, and they were also harassing many British migration to the 13 Colonies, breaking into, burning or even killing those within, their house. Mocking was also very common, and the taxes imposed in NYC were in fact more than 20x less than what Londoners paid. Also, a side note; the leaders of the American Revolution were British elites wanting higher power and wealth.
