  1. Most New Yorkers (as in New York City residents) bristle at calling this the battle of Long Island because it all happened in what is now Brooklyn and in the mind of a New York City resident, Long Island only starts East of Jamaica. If you want to know where all this happened:
Grant marched through what is now greenwood cemetery, fought up hill through park slope and eventually took the "highest part of long island" which is mount prospect right behind what is now the brooklyn museum
Each time you hear Gowanus Heights that is basically Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy. Think of the troops basically using Erecting a defensive line all the way down Eastern Parkway
How basically starts at Floyd Bennett Field, goes up Canarsie, hooks a left a bit north of east new york, takes Atlantic avenue all the way to brooklyn heights
To retreat George Washinton hops on the ferry going from Jane's Carousel in DUMBO to the financial district

  2. Hey 👋 Long time viewer here, love the videos you guys put out! Would love to see a video or a few on civil war battles such as Fredricksburg or Sherman’s March to the Sea. Btw, can you please stop inserting politics into these? Most of us come here because we love history, not because of party allegiance or whatever is going on in the news.
