What store did you get these from though
With littles, I thrift at a kids-only store and retail stores clearance for the next year's season (ie summer), and anticipate what the size will be a year from now based on growth trend and genes. Also use natural fabrics to sew simple in season clothes.
Get hand me downs. But yes putting tights and a long sleeve under a dress isnt a new thing. Its called layering. Maybe just news to new moms?
