When Lincoln said that a house divided against itself cannot stand, he was talking about the country as a whole. But those words could also be applied on a small scale as well. In this episode, we’re joined by Jared Frederick of the channel Reel History to explore the complicated story of the Baker Mansion in Altoona, PA and the secrets that it reveals today.

Really intriguing history. What exactly IS the style of the handcarved furniture? Its like Rococco x Jacobean c1849
Love this video!!
Marvelous. Thank you.
Wow this mansion looks sooo tacky ! Who restored it ? Except for the piano none of those horrid furniture is from the 1840’s! Looks more like cheap second rococo from the 1860’s 70’s ! The fact that no European with money would buy those explained why they end up in the USA 😂
Thanks, very educational.
When you were talking about the piano it sounded just like you were saying penis?
Awesome video! Most interesting and informative. Really enjoyed watching this!
Wow! I was a tour guide at Baker Mansion years ago—so much has changed since then. Thanks for such an informative episode and for bringing back great memories!
I guess they had their "fortunate sons" back then too!
