When Lincoln said that a house divided against itself cannot stand, he was talking about the country as a whole. But those words could also be applied on a small scale as well. In this episode, we’re joined by Jared Frederick of the channel Reel History to explore the complicated story of the Baker Mansion in Altoona, PA and the secrets that it reveals today.

In case anyone's wondering the $15,000 to build that house in 1844 is in today's dollars is $648,000. I thought it would be a couple million. I just googled it
@8:11 saying that this is a family of means is conflicting with @9:12 because they had to pay as u go, to get the furniture made. 🤷♂️ Maybe I'm missing something, regardless we love the content. (Context: not rude) 😊
The must have had a bunch of rambunctious dogs running around in that house. 😂

that's correct
What blows my mind is it seems that more fine items were imported from Europe and Asia in the 1800’s when shipping and transport of goods was nothing like we have today. It must have been at great expense.
Fascinating history! So glad you posted this.
