It’s more like the guy’s ego will come in the middle which makes him feel inadequate and then he begins to harbour resentment for the girl. His behaviour changes and then she gets to know its because he is jealous of her success and then she loses respect for him and that’s when the relationship ends.

Ladki respect nhi karegi? Usse many more times i have seen the guy's ego being hurt, him urging her to leave the job or beating her up to take out his frustration at home using lines like "Officer hogi ghar k bahar, ghar k andar tu mere neeche rahegi". Happened to my mom's friend. Both met in college, she cleared the state civil services exam and he wasn't getting jobs, one day he walked into her office during a meeting and dragged her out by her hair. Then the security had to intervene. She left him after that.
