A mixture of both. There's a time and place for everything (on that note, there's an age for every trend/ style). Therefore, as you mentioned when you were younger, you were trendy. As you got older, you used K.I.S.S (Keeping It Simple Silly/Stupid).
However, you might pick up something trendy once in a while (that's okay).
I personally have learned to K.I.S.S, most of my life.
But you still follow trends and support overconsumption to an insane degree sooo
I like to mix up both so that "classic" doesn't look too boring in my eyes.
