So, I was a medic in the USAF, and I deployed with the Army doing convoys in Afghanistan back in 2010-2011. We happened to have a fairly minor flu outbreak in late winter/early spring. But one thing about the military is very different these days.
Medical personnel (even including lower ranking ones like medics) have absolute authority when it comes to medical issues regardless of rank. So, when my unit commander (a major) told myself and my roommate (also a medic) to "have the sick go on convoy anyway and just give them IVs" we were able to tell him no. The outbreak was kept pretty minimal because we were able to quarantine those infected and allow them to recover properly. Fun fact, a convoy medic, in the case of medical necessity, straight up has the power to cancel orders and even put a stop to an entire convoy if it's violating medical protocol, something we gently reminded the major of in that meeting. This is almost certainly a direct result of the events covered in this video.
Now, I'm not going to lie to y'all and say that every medical person in the military exercises this right, or that corrupt commanders never find a way around it, but overall the system works much better now than it used to.

Youd think after this, our government and country would’ve been a lot more prepared for covid but its like they got 3x as stupid and unknowledgeable as they were then.
