Colored is a legal category created in part by mahatmas Gandhi when he was a lawyer in SA
They didn’t want to use the same facilities as AFRICANS but didn’t want to threaten white supremacy. So colored represents a social position ABOVE Black African people. So it’s a basic stand issue, sure she can be mixed but the hesitancy to just present oneself as Black is really the hesitancy to accept the social position of a Black person. And of course some folks in SA agree with her ,Black people still get treated rough as hell in SA, some people have an interest in the status quo, 70% of the land is owned by yt people!
