Australia today is one of the wealthiest and most highly developed nations on the planet, boasting enviably high levels of education, healthcare and wages, which when coupled with its easy going and laid-back lifestyle, makes for one of the highest levels of living standards enjoyed anywhere in the world.

The quality of life in Australia is in fact so high that it’s five major metropolitan urban areas; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, all regularly feature in the top 10 of the Global Liveability Index, which ranks cities based on their levels of stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education and infrastructure.

All of this culminates in Australia having one of the worlds highest levels of life expectancy, with males expecting to live to an average of 81.30 years of age and females to an average of 85.40 years. This marks Australia, alongside neighbouring New Zealand, as clear outliers in terms of life expectancy when compared to the levels of other nations in the southern hemisphere, where in some instances barely exceed the age of 50.

However, Australia hasn’t always enjoyed such high levels of life expectancy, nor any other measures of human development for that matter. Just over 150 years ago, in 1870, a new-born child was only expected to live to the age of 34 on average and just a few decades prior to that, the livelihoods themselves of many Australians consisted of little more than carrying out hard, arduous labour in a harsh and unforgiving environment. That is because for much of Australia’s early history, the country was governed as a penal colony for British convicts, who were transported to the far side of the world to lay the foundations of the first European settlements there.

But how did this country change to such a degree, going from a place where people were sent to be punished, into a place where many aspire to live today?

This is the history of Australia.

  1. The First Australians were the riches people on earth. Living off the land for thousands of years until the British arrived. Now they are the poorest. Aboriginal people are forced to live in the outback. Before the Anglo-British invasion, Aboriginals lived on the coast, near the ocean with planty of fresh water to drink. Protestants and Catholics Stolen and transferred Aboriginal children and suppressed the languages and cultures. Many endured physical punishment, emotional neglect, and sexual abuse. Separation from siblings was common, contact with birth families was deliberately blocked and many unmarked graves. What would you expect from the Church of England, built on the family values of Henry VIII?

The sheer arrogance of the British is just unbelievable.

The only reason Egypt still has the pyramids is that they were too big to be moved to Britain / Scotland.

Liberate Australia from Anglo-British colonial influence and restore it to its traditional custodians, the Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander folks.

As historian John Price and others have argued, the Five Eyes are not just intelligence partners—they’re a coalition of Anglo settler colonial states.

    Their shared history includes:

    • Dispossession of Indigenous peoples

    • White supremacist legal frameworks

    • Imperial expansion under the guise of liberalism and free trade

    • Surveillance and control of colonized populations

This alliance isn’t just about security—it’s about maintaining a geopolitical order rooted in Anglo dominance, often at the expense of plural histories and decolonial movements. The very term “Five Eyes” originated as a classification: AUS/CAN/NZ/UK/US Eyes Only—a closed circle of trust built on shared colonial values.

Yaama First Nations Peoples. First Nations Peoples have their own system of law and order. January 26 is fast approaching. Together, hundreds of thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander folk and non-Indigenous allies will march in solidarity across the country with the message that January 26 is not a date to celebrate. It's a date for mourning. Are you with us?

  2. Damn this video really acts like Europeans did nothing wrong and we’re only ever “attacked” or “working in retaliation”. Then tries to virtue signal and act like they only ever tried to offer their society over to the indigenous population, rather than slaughter and enslave…. Good to see it doesn’t try act like Cook was some hero as were taught in school.
