It still amazes me that people call this war over states’ rights a civil war. Oxford says a civil war is “a war between citizens of the SAME country.” Two different countries at the time of the war being talked about here. Makes it hard to take any of the information as truth, if you can’t even get the actual war name pedal correctly.
Incredible work on the storytelling here.
At POV History Us, we also try to capture that human side of the Civil War — seeing history through the eyes of those who lived it.
Always inspiring to see others bring this era to life.
If we only knew what California was going to turn into.
Democrats even cheated in elections back then, too.
Fuck it
We’re finished 😂😂😂😂
Wwe are currently on a march towards this type of conflict in 2025. One of the worst results of that war was to let the confederate organizers go unpunished and to be initiated back into the Federal government. It's the pockets of rebels that held onto their hate that led to the rise of the KKK &
Jim Crow. Now the heritage foundation and others seeking to rise again. Not seeking,, but has come to power again. Bigotry, prejudice and bias. He's never died. It still lives and it has come back to haunt us. This country is still divided and on the brink of CIVIL WAR.
First off, all states had slaves, and New York was the last state to get rid of it!
Todays Republicans have always been the group of dullards taking over others' work. I.e…..white people think they own everything.
When "We want to keep people as property to maximize profits" became "states Rights" they lost me, I woulda made a terrible Texan
americans did not learn from others….we apologize but shit about to go down
