  1. Had I been in Vlad's shoes, living in those times and treated the way he had been, I would have absolutely been as brutal as the stories describe him. Why not? If you're a Prince with the power to do basically whatever you wanted, why not impale my enemies? Why not feast in their presence while they suffered? You wanna murder members of my family, I'll make you suffer horribly while I watch you die. Slowly. It's hard for the modern human to imagine such brutality. But it sounds like violence was a pretty normal day in the life of the average person, and much more so in a day in the life of a person in power.

  2. I have never understood why he gets such a bad rap. He was fighting fire with fire. At one point in time he was being held captive by the Turks
    They were the ones who began the impailing, he picked it up because the Turks started it.
