8 minutes of Elizabeth 1st, sorry guys. I turned off.

Henry cut off Anne's head and didn't miss a beat. There was no love lost between the two. She must have had a personality that annoyed him greatly at the end. He was very happy to be rid of her permanently.
The History Hits people do an episode that talks more about who Anne Bolyne love with Henry. The letters that he sent her.. i guess you could say Herstory and History.. talks more about the court gossip that made Henry Angry about his in effectiveness as a man then he has that huge COD piece painting done.
…. so enjoying on my day off, chilly & raining 🌧 🌂 out, easy listening 👂🏽 & warm indoors. Thank you both. New subscriber here.🙋🏽♀️😊
Ann had a collection of saucy Parisian woodcuts using them as a menu. Henry would get his order once wed
Of course there was finger food beforehand
This idea that Anne is something of an intellectual equal to Henry, that she differs from others around him in that she is a bit more sassy and confrontational. He is surrounded by yes-men and women. Her willingness to spar a bit with him, to challenge him, that is part of the initial intrigue he has for her. Yet, ultimately, he tires of it. As this discussion turns to the beginning of Jane Seymour, you question what SHE has that attracts the king. It is exactly her nature which differs from the acerbic qualities of Anne which now appeals to him. He no longer wants the sexy intellectual sparring. He wants compliance.
at 4:42, the English had already won by the time she made that infamous speech
The way Anne Boleyn is described, she sounds like Wallis Simpson. Not conventionally pretty, wide mouth, very into fashion, super well dressed, witty, acerbic, knew how to play the King….
Just one comment: I really wish the two of you hadn't made light of Thomas Seymore's "handsy" behavior with Elizabeth. Yes, I know that the attitudes of Tudor era England were that 15 was plenty old enough to be married (i.e. sexually active), but your laughing about how Elizabeth was treated by both Seymore ~and~ Catherine Parr was gross. Especially at this point in modern history when both the US and the UK are grappling with the details of Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking of young teenage girls to people like Andrew Windsor Mountbatten and Donald Trump. Your handling of these details about Elizabeth's abuse at the hands of Seymore and his wife does not reflect well on either of you. Tom only called it sexual abuse once, at the end of that part of the discussion but that doesn't really mitigate the previous "nudge nudge, wink wink" tone used.
I really enjoy your podcast; it's provided me a safe haven of sorts during a really rough time in my life (loss of apartment, a few weeks spent homeless, and then a move to another state when friends offered me a room to stay in). I don't want to always be on 'cringe-alert' when listening to one of your episodes, fearing that you'll minimize and downplay the sexual abuse of, well, anyone. Like far too many people (women AND men), I'm a rape survivor. I really hope you'll take my comment to heart going forward, so that everyone can enjoy the episodes you produce without being afraid you'll make light of sexual abuse again.
