The history of Switzerland is not just a story about picturesque mountains and neutrality. It is the dramatic journey of a people who, in the harsh conditions of the Middle Ages, managed to unite, stand firm against powerful neighbors, and build an independent confederation. This path began in small Alpine communities that resisted Habsburg rule and step by step formed a union of equal cantons.

In this video, you will see how the struggle for freedom became legend — from the figure of William Tell to the famous battles of Morgarten, Sempach, and Glarus. We will show how the Swiss, without centralized power or a large army, managed to win decisive clashes, expand their alliance, and ultimately challenge the mighty Burgundians.

Special attention will be given to the phenomenon of the Swiss mercenaries, whose bravery and combat mastery made them a symbol of military strength for centuries. You will also learn how Swiss neutrality began to take shape in those early times — and why it became not a sign of weakness, but a source of inner strength and unity.

  1. at 6:40 you can see why i have the theory of austria being a swiss colonial state.
    "osterreich" means eastern realm.
the habsburgs are from what is today switzerland, their western realm is the original one.
    they founded austria.
we kicked out our nobility, they fled to their eastern realms.

  2. Native Reserves in Canada Govern Ourselves today. I am from the Moose Cree First Nation in Moose Factory, ON Canada. Here is a poem about home.

    Title: The Island

On an island on the Moose River

Where the Bay meets the land

    There’s a place of history

Where the Cree and the traders stand

It was already found by those around

But yet it was found again

By people from across the sea

    By the Hudson’s Bay Company

In the year of sixteen seventy-three

It was named Moose Fort by the English

But the French had a different decree

    They captured it in eighty-six

And renamed it Fort St. Louis

But the Treaty of Utrecht restored it

And the English came and they rebuilt it

    It became the Southern headquarters

And supplied posts far and wide

    It witnessed wars and genocide

    But yet we still abide

It is home to the Moose Cree First Nation

And Nation of People from all walks of life

It is isolated but safe from the outside

It is Moose Factory, it is Moose Factory

  3. I am Cree, and I am Canadian. Canada maybe a country of people from all walks of life, but we are Canadian. When a PM is elected, the oppositions game is always to cause strife the entire four years. When a PM is elected we as Canadians need to stand together and not let Conservative ideals like Alberta PMs, never trust a Politician in a white suit. There is a movement in Canada that is foreign and meant to divide the Nation. No matter who wins, the PM and their party must look to better all of Canada and not have to fight each other when we got bigger issues globally.
