The reason why they serve in plastic cups is for transportation reasons, its much easier to carry 4 cups of coconut water than 4 whole coconuts 😅

The flesh should not be completely scooped out in a single piece. It should be scooped out in very thin slices. Soft and jelly like… Insert a straw and small slices will be sucked up along with the coconut water. Then when all the coconut water is gone, you can pick out the thicker (but still thin) slices of flesh as a jelly like snack.
We in India drink directly from the coconut and using bamboo straws so there's no plastic waste, unfortunately other countries will brand us dirty and the so-called sophisticated use of plastic is termed clean and progressive, truly the World is hypocritic against India.
