There aren’t a ton of people in the world who can say they founded a billion dollar company. There are far fewer that can say they did it twice. YC Group Partner Tom Blomfield is one of them.
Each episode of our series Backstory will introduce you to one of YC’s Group Partners and the path they took to get here. If you aspire to change the world with your startup, Tom’s story exemplifies the joys and trials of pursuing these ambitious ideas.

HOW do you do this? How do you magically get people to use your product? How did you have the resources to build such a thing?
Hahaha he completely missed out about starling bank! Tom is incredible however he completely erased what happened at starling bank…it’s a big reason for Monzo starting.
I'd have never heard about this guy but wow he has inspired to follow a path out of the traditional path that society I has standed us and well basically to "create a new things"
I love listening to Tom. And I also liked knowing that he and Harj were cofounders.
Very good
This would be a failure in India. If you could learn about UPI payments, you can be sure Monzo is still a traditional model.
Thank you for sharing your story – staying true your struggles and building resilience to bounce back!
I hereby grant you validation. Daddy would've been proud; still out getting milk since he left.
