  1. They did dike dirty. What really happened isnt him being to scared to lead. He was heavily wounded. The attack stalled because he went down not because of incompetency. And winters didnt choose spier because he knew he was good. He was just the first officer Winters saw. The Winters autobiography account of the event is worth a read.

  2. It's nice to see the younger generations watching this after being told by all their liberal school teachers for years how they have been discriminated against and all their problems in life (their feelings) are someone else's fault.

    These men (some of them barely out of high school) are WHY they have their freedom to have their feelings hurt. Sorry but the people today complaining about "toxic masculinity", Lt. Spiers is what masculinity looks like. It is what separates men from boys and is absolutely needed in the world.

    Band of Brothers should be MANDATORY viewing to graduate high school in the United States. I was in Bastogne last year in December and visited this site. The city has rebuilt and is now modern but there is a nice memorial there.
