Karnataka’s vegetarian food culture is soulful, diverse and full of surprises. On this stop of 28 Weeks 28 States, I travelled to Udupi and Manipal to explore why this region is celebrated for its flavours. From a humble canteen near the Krishna Matt to a homely kitchen run by a warm elderly couple, every plate offered something memorable.
The variety here is extraordinary. Soft, airy snacks paired with tangy gravies, spiced rice dishes bursting with flavour, and unique versions of sambar and curries showed just how creative vegetarian food can be. Each bite reflected the depth of Karnataka’s culinary traditions while still surprising me with something new.
Ending the meal with payasam and the hospitality of the people made the experience unforgettable. This episode is a celebration of Karnataka’s veg food scene in its most authentic form.

I hope to enjoy the super power couple our grandparents good soon ❤
I think at Ajjaji's they employ old people to support themselves at the age when people don't want to take their parents parents with them 😔 I hope everyone take care of elders so we all can have a loving and beautiful life ❤
