Tube's are pretty self explainitory. Transistors are where the real magic was born. I had an industrial electronics professor refer to modern blob chips as the magic pixie rave warehouse. There are allot of very strange acts going on and u probably dont need to see most of them, butbthe end result is usually a good time.The class was arduino and python based. Arduino actually makes hardened units for industry and military use. Full mil spec plug and play for pennies! Fuck the bad old days contemporary life is incredible!

Playing guitar amps with 6L6, EL84, 12A(X,Y…)7 etc you can feel the push/pull/squelch/life… these are all weird and not exact words: IYKYK… worked in RF for the last 22 years, even getting to play with Velocity Modulation on Klystron Tubes (Civvy, not Forces!) the voltages involved are “smellable” even a decent size guitar amp has filter caps that can necessitate your nearest and dearest selecting a suitable outfit and returning your nitrogen to the earth if you disrespect it. Played with some Pentodes for a home-made phono amp that makes vinyl sound great… in the same way a ‘38 does, until it sounds like a high pitched hum, and the noise of your throat swallowing.
