These are known as Xiaolongbao in China and if you haven’t tried it yet you don’t know what you’re missing out on.

This heavenly vegan and vegetarian soup dumpling is so so delicious that you won’t stop at one! Imagine drinking the soup and then biting the dumplings 🥟
For the dumpling wrapper : – 1 cup maida (all purpose flour). – 1 tsp oil. – Salt to taste. – Water as needed.
Method : mix the flour, salt and oil until crumbly. Add water in parts and knead a medium stiff dough. Cover with a wet cloth and rest for min 30 mins before re kneading for 2-3 mins. Make equal sized balls, roll out small rounds with slightly thin edges but a not too thin middle.
For the soup jelly :
– 2 tsp oil. – 1 green chilli, 1 inch ginger, 2-3 cloves garlic (finely chopped). – 2 tsp white sesame seeds. – 1 tsp each vinegar, soy sauce, chilli sauce. – 2 tbsp spring onion greens (finely chopped). – 1 tbsp coriander stems (finely chopped). – Salt and pepper to taste. – 1.5 cups water. – 1 tsp agar agar powder (I use @meronagaragar from Amazon). You can use gelatin too.
Other ingredients for stuffing : – 1 of each cabbage, carrot, capsicum (finely chopped). – 3-4 spring onion whites (finely chopped). – 3-4 baby corn (finely chopped). – 1 tsp each vinegar, green chilli sauce and dark soy sauce. – Salt and pepper to taste.
Others : water as needed for steaming and 1-2 tsp oil for greasing steamer plate.
For steaming : heat water until steamer. Grease steamer plate with oil, place dumplings, cover and steam for 10-12 mins or until ready.
Serve hot straight out of the steamer for the soup to ooze out. You can serve it as it is or with some chilli oil too.
