Rus is the old Scandinavian word for horse. In sweden, there is still a breed of horse (pony really) called the Gotlansk Rus. Maybe the Rus were a horse trading tribe originally.
So, does Putin patrionise people of Swedish descent and so wants to conquer Sweden when he claims that he wants to take Ukraine because Russians and Ukrainians were one in the Kievan Rus – in his eyes? And if I‘m correct, I don’t want him to get bad/dumb ideas.
As a russian, it's still hard to believe that the founders of the ancient state were foreigners and the name itself is foreign xd (I'm curious how locals called themselves)
You could make a video about the Norwegian-Russian trade pidgin language called Russenorsk. Most famous example: "moja på tvoja" = "I speak your languange".

*Sigh.. here come the angry Ukrainians who don't understand history.

Rus is an archaic adjective in serbian meaning blond. Furthermore, there was old state name of Ras Raška over 1000yr ago in balkans…
Мне больше нравится версия, что славяне когда -то называли себя "рассеянными". Отсюда и корни слова Россия
ESTONIAN LANGUAGE!
And Ivan the Terrible literally the fall of the whole Rurik dynasty ever since the Vikings
