Arizonan's most famous street food is not sonoran dog. its more likely frybread.
As an Arizonian(?)
I feel shame about the Sonoran Hotdog being our assumed state dish.
Its shameful 😂😂
she loves her bread moist lol and watch every time he lets he have the first bite he looks at her he is licking his lips for the food and her lol you can see the love between the 2 of them
lol you’re eating them all wrong that why you keep pushing all the toppings off. Go at it straight toppings up. Not like a sub.
Oh and btw it’s not toasted or steamed but warmed up. Carts toast because they put them on the griddle to warm. Most restaurants don’t do that as they have more options.
I bet she could take that whole dog down at once 😮
I've had three of the four that you've tried, and I agree wholeheartedly that El Sinalosense is the best out of what you tried. I actually think El Guero Canelo is at the bottom. I really do not like theirs so much. I cracked up when you said "James had an off day." 😂
I think you guys did hit on something though, and I've thought this myself. The steamed bun brings the dish down, and the grilled bun elevates it. Most carts grill the bread, and it's grilled in the same greases that the bacon and the dog is grilled in. Most (but not all) storefronts steam their buns. The last spot I'll suspect that the kick you tasted was from the jalapeño sauce on top (which is traditional in all Sonoran dogs). Their sauce probably has more kick than most. I've never tried theirs, but I will.
I’ve eating these in Tucson for years, but went to Hermosillo, MX and it was insane! The bun was soft like a pillow or cloud!
Toasted is best. Some do it.
As a Tucsonan, I'm glad you got to enjoy our Sonoran Dogs! I don't know that I've ever had a bad one, but I don't think we've tried that first one… so we'll have to give them a try – I've also never had one with a toasted bun, so I'm curious about that as well! If you need any other Tucson suggestions, we got answers in spades!
Yes y'all did it correct. Start with an original then try another with a twist. Don't forget the white Chile pepper. For that kick
