When she told him she was the older sister of Alex's mother that should've been the first red flag before the consumption comment. She's 70-75 and Alex's mom is 30-35. Earlier Alex's mom refers to Gladys as her aunt instead of as her sister. Either Gladys killed the real Gladys and took her place (like in The Visit) or there never was an Aunt Gladys and she just used a memory altering spell.

Amy Madigan delivers a truly terrifying performance. Aunt Gladys looks a bit crazed but is so comfortable, confident and calm in her wickedness. Very special character in the history of movie villains.
