I have never heard anything about Japanese cannibalism. My dad was a POW of the Japanese in the Philippines and Japan. The soldiers got the rice with the fish meat broth and the prisoners got the rice with the fish head broth. They added local greens when they could forage them. The Japanese soldiers received a beer from their officer and they passed it around and actually gave Dad a swig of beer since he was nearby. Those guys never ate prisoners!
