What if both sides fired when met each other, the militias retreated after they got casualties, and the British continued fire because they thought militias are regrouping and getting ready to attack again?

I’d always assumed it was the Americans.

A militiaman who like the people was sick and tired for the taxation for nothing, except for the war debt for a war they’d mostly started. Sick and tired for the British confiscating stockpiled weapons they intended to use on the British.

But if it wasn’t, then so be it. There was a shot, a skirmish, and then a retreat.

And if it was the Americans, then it’s much like the incident at Boston with the troops.

Geez, what a trashy and annoying way to present this question.

I personally think the revolutionaries fired first, although I’ll admit I’m biased because I’m British. They were very desperate to get their story said first, which might mean they were hiding something, or who actually shot it. The person who most likely shot it was from the tavern and drunk (after the soldiers had been served beer) and shot blindly, thinking the British were going to first, when they ordered their men not to fire.
