they do that on the side not on the table, I hate it when Asians try to teach others but they have no etiquette themselves, so rough

I don’t “rub” the wooden sticks. If there are splinters, I peel them off.
I hold my chopsticks the same way. Self taught when I was eagerness to learn while hungry. It works even though sometimes my hand cramps.

I was always taught the getting rid of splinters was kind of rude because it said that you thought the place was cheap. But idk maybe my parents were just overthinking
