If you're wondering how successful the Malacca Empire was at that time, the whole world spoke Malay language as the intermediate language. Nowadays, it's English. But back in the days, the global superpower, China, Spain, Dutch, India, Arabs, all of them spoke Malay. Malacca wasn't the real trade hub. It was Goa in India. It's just a port to repair ships for merchants from West to East and East to West. For the merchant the west to buy spices in Goa for them to sell it in China, and for the merchants from the East to go sell their spices in Europe, they must, months of journey on ship through the sea, they must stop at Malacca for some repairs and resupply.
