Every human has a unique blood group because of specific proteins, called antigens, present on the surface of red blood cells. The Rh factor is inherited from your parents, just like your blood group. About 85% of people worldwide are Rh positive, making it much more common than Rh negative. The presence of the Rh factor doesn’t affect health in daily life, but it is very important in situations like pregnancy and blood transfusions. For example, Rh incompatibility between a mother and her baby can cause health problems if not managed carefully.
